before i started, or even heard about my college course, aonghus had been saving up his holiday days so that we could go on some sort of a package sun beach holiday roundabout november. and then college happened and i discovered i'd have lectures that i couldn't miss, and my only time off would be at midterm, when everyone else in the country would be trying to grab a week in the sun.

so we gave up on the canaries or turkey and settled instead for beautiful sunny connaught. we've rented a car for the week and are off tomorrow to galway, mayo and sligo.

we did intend to see a bit more of ireland after all our foreign travelling, though we could perhaps have picked a better time of the year.

for the first couple of nights we're staying in letterfrack in north conemara where they're celebrating their 'bog week' festival. then it's on to a hostel in westport and finally a bit of luxury in a semi-posh hotel in sligo.

much walking and outdoor capers are anticipated. even if it rains. and it will rain, this is the west of ireland we're talking about. i just hope it doesn't snow.

i'm quite disturbed to discover that we arrived home from our travels one year ago today.

how fast the time has gone.

and how little i have done! y'know, i'm still saying to people that we're just back home from travelling.

at least i've started doing something productive with my time with this college thing. how depressing would it be if i was home for a full year and still sitting on my arse on the dole doing nothing? right now i think i'm even close to figuring out what i want to be when i grow up. is it not amazing that people ask six year old children this question. or more amazing that six year old children might actually know what they want to be when they grow up.

i always answered that i wanted to be rich and famous.

i soon dropped the famous.

aonghus wanted to be a dragon and was gutted when told he couldn't be one coz they didn't exist. he decided to settle for dinosaur.

i'm barely into my fourth week of college and i already have an assignment due.

and it's an essay.

and i'm not very good at essays.

the topic of said essay is a field trip that our class were taken on last thursday, to a multimedia exhibition, showing the projects of last years trinity multimedia masters students.

and given that that last sentence took about five rewrites to get it to a nearly comprehensible level, you can understand that essays are not my forte.

when writing essays [always in microsoft word] shift+F7 [the thesaurus shortcut keys] are my best friends.

such friends are they, that i have written about them here before. only really good friends get multiple mentions in this blog.

so anway, if you're any good at writing about your opinion of multimedia exhibitions, or you happen to see an article in the newspaper about 'in ctrl - the msc multimedia graduate show, trinity college dublin' give us a shout, yeah?
